Sharon started on her spiritual journey over 20 years ago when she was first introduced to Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Meditation. She feels this practice has been instrumental in helping her reconnect to her true spiritual essence while leading her towards a life of commitment and purpose. Her genuine concern for people's suffering ignites her desire to assist others along their spiritual path in order for them to discover the peace, joy, and potential that lives within them. |
Sharon brings years of experience to her students as she has travelled roads that have lead her to both study and live at retreat centres and ashrams in Canada and the U.S. She overcame her 8 year journey wiht cancer by studying and implementing complimentary practices. She received a certificate course in applied and advanced nutrition from the Canadian Nutrition Institute in Uxbridge, Ontario. She also attended a 3 week health encounter program at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida where she learned the techniques of detoxification and rejuvenation through enzyme rich live diet including raw foods, sprouts, greens and wheatgrass juices. She continues to maintain an indoor garden year round to support her belief in the benefits of these healing and beneficial foods. Her passion for gardening has influenced her to create an organic outdoor summer vegetable garden on the studio grounds assisted by other like minded individuals. |

She was fortunate to spend several months at Yasodhara Ashram in the Kootney region of British Columbia and Sivananda Camp in Val Morin, Quebec in the mid-nineties to recuperate from her long illness. It was here at the ashrams where she studied the yogic lifestyle and spent contemplative time while performing karma yoga, the practice of work as selfless service. Sharon has also studied at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox Massachusetts receiving professional training in Stress Management, Body Movement, Yoga, Meditation and Spiritual Attunement, Communication, Conscious Eating and Diet, and professional practice. She also holds a certificate in level II Reiki, is a certified hatha yoga instructor through the former Ontario Federation of Yoga Teachers now the Yoga Network of Canada, and a White Belt trained NIA technique instructor. Her journey to India in December of 2009 further enriched and deepened her commitment to her meditation practice and the spiritual lifestyle.
Sharon is currently studying for her yoga therapy certification to further her knowledge and skills. She looks forward to working with individuals who suffer from chronic conditions and other illnesses that may restrict them from practicing in a regular yoga class environment.
Sharon welcomes you to Beams of Light Studio where she will warmly support you in discovering a much deeper and richer connection to your divine self.
