INSTRUCTOR BIO: Anna Taneburgo's BSW/M.ED. (formerly Rizzotto) training embraces both Western and Eastern modalities.  She has a Bachelor of Social Work (McMaster University) and Master of Adult Education (University of Toronto).  She is also a trained Reiki Master, Kripalu Yoga Teacher and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher. 

Anna has over 30 years in health care, which includes counselling and education work in area hospitals, and establishing a nationally acclaimed hospital-based holistic staff wellness program. 
Anna’s work has been featured in national publications and she has been a popular speaker at national conferences.

At the Omega Institute in New York, Anna studied Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, who is internationally recognized for bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society.  She then went on to complete the Professional Practicum at the Centre for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre.  She has also been trained in Mindful Communication through the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Anna has attended numerous meditation retreats with the American Buddhist teacher Shinzen Young.  She has also attended retreats with the American Advaita Vedanta teacher, Adyashanti, and Canadian Vipassana teachers Norman Feldman and Molly Swan, Philip Starkman and Ajahn Viradhammo.  Anna has also studied with Dr. Stephane Treyvaud.

Anna received her certification as a yoga teacher at the Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health, in Lenox, Massachusetts. 

At Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, Anna provided individual, couple and family counselling.  She coordinated and delivered staff wellness and development programs at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital.  At Halton Healthcare, comprising the Oakville, Milton and Georgetown hospitals,  Anna launched Kailo, a nationally recognized holistic staff wellness program.  Anna also facilitated Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programs (MBSR) for staff at both Joseph Brant and Halton Healthcare.  

Anna is a certified trainer in both True Colours and Personality Dimensions, which are tools for understanding personality types and differences.  She has facilitated dozens of workshops in healthcare and the community.

Anna has also facilitated personal growth groups in private practice; taught Human Relations courses at Mohawk and Sheridan Colleges; and served on faculty at the Mindfulness Centre in Oakville, where she taught yoga as a mindfulnType your paragraph here.

Our meditation space offers a tranquil and inviting space to explore your inner world free from the chaos of everyday life. For those who have a regular meditation practice and would like to make use of the space please call ahead to arrange a time and day for your practice session. (free of charge)


We  offer  6 week   meditation sessions to those requiring some guidance and support in establishing a regular  practice.

MINDFULNESS AND STRESS REDUCTION - Suitable for those new to meditation and those wishing to continue their practice in a supportive environment.

Everyone seems to be talking about it, but what is it really?
This workshop series is designed to give you a basic understanding and an experience of mindfulness.
Mindfulness promotes personal wellness on all levels of being. It is an evidence-based practice in which participants can experience:

*greater ability to cope with daily stress
*lasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms
*greater ability to learn and focus
*enhanced interpersonal communication and relationships
*greater energy and enthusiasm for life

The workshop series involves an overview of mindfulness:

What is it?
How does it work?
How can it help me reduce stress in my personal life and in my work?
Guided mindfulness practices, including both seated and movement practices
Strategies to enhance mindful awareness in everyday life
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, blanket and pillow.
